Maternity Service (Whanau Centered Service)

Staff:
Two full-time Midwives employed by Ngati Porou Hauora.

Service:
Inpatient - 3 bed birthing unit.
Delivery options i.e water birthing, traditional birthing options, for obstetric tertiary care, wahine transferred to Gisborne Maternity.

Postnatal care includes mother crafting, support for fully breastfeed babies - advice and support on contraception, nutritional and Auahi Kore, Ipu whenua.

Open visiting hours.

From Obstetrician Gisborne Hospital, Tairawhiti District Health.

Telephone support service after hours to midwives available.
24 hour x 7 days a week On Call midwifery service
24 hour x 7 days a week medical support from On duty doctor / On Call doctor
