Ngati and Healthy
Ngati and Healthy is NPH's flagship wellness programme that promotes healthy lifestyle choices for the Ngati Porou community.
We run whanau-friendly exercise and nutrition classes in various East Coast communities as well as advocating for healthier choices in our communities.
Started in 2004 as a diabetes prevention project, our partnership with the Edgar National Centre for Diabetes Research at the University of Otago supported by a range of funders has allowed us to study the prevalence of diabetes on the East Coast and the factors affecting this.
Ngati and Healthy also includes a process and formative evaluation that continues to document the programme and gathers feedback from the communities and team about the strengths and challenges of the programme.
